I read Needleman's book years ago, and it made a big impression on me at the time. At the time I was slowly making my way back to Cathocism, which I drifted from not because of any enmity, because I wasn't well catechized. I just had a very shallow understanding of it. I consider his book to one of a few signposts along my path back. As far as what is coming, I'm a "all will be well, all will be well, and everything will be well" kind of guy. I fully acknowledge that we are in a dark time right now, but things have a way of turning around when you least expect them to. The old idols are starting to fall, and the pace is picking up. Papists view the Church as akin to a political party with the Pope as the party boss. Catholics of the Early Church variety (like me) don't do that at all. Pope Francis' support of the ridiculous gene-therapy injections meant nothing to me, nor did the similar exhortations from local bishops and clergy.
When I figured out years ago that most of the people in the pews on Sundays were Papists who knew practically nothing of the Early Church (despite using the Bible the Early Church wrote for them), it cleared up lots of confusion for me. It's still sad and disappointing to see the Marduk-worshiping Papists everywhere, but it's no longer perplexing.
